THE COBRA DEN
The Central Texas Wing of the Commemorative Air Force had unique set of circumstance develop when they found themselves with a P-39 Air Cobra and the newly acquired P-63 King Cobra restoration project. Upon hearing of their new moniker, "The Cobra Den", I just knew they needed a squadron insignia similar to the work that Disney did for the war effort. Both aircraft feature a canon running through the center of the aircraft that fired through the center of the propellor. The 2 cobra's encircling a machine gun seemed like the perfect solution to highlight that unique trait of both aircraft. I've long been a fan of Disney's nearly forgotten WWII work, so this project really brought me closer to some of my design idols.
