I was recently asked to design some post-WWII insignia style art for Black Sheep Studio. I was the 4th person assigned this project, so I knew Jerry and Tina would be demanding for what they wanted, but it was right in my wheelhouse. At the conclusion of the project they had these nice things to say about the experience. It was a fun project and I’m so glad they are so happy with the result!
This post is a long time coming and we couldn’t be happier to finally share it. As many know we have been trying to have a logo created. It’s been a long two-year struggle; we have worked with many designers, but in the end, it never worked out. We had three major requirements for our logo that was shared with all. First, it had to have the inspiration of a WW2 squadron/ vintage post war 40s design. Second, it could not pigeon-hole the shop into any one niche. Third, it had to have a flying cap. We recently reached out to Chad Matthew Hill from Django Studios which is the first number we should have called. We’ve known Chad since around 05 when Jerry worked at HRCC. Having zero ability to draw, a concept design was out the question, Chad was able to take what was in our head and make it a reality. Being able to watch the creation of our logo from pencil sketches to final design was amazing. To say his vintage art and aircraft design is his wheelhouse in a complete understatement. It’s his gift and we couldn’t have been any happier with his designs. Every design from concept to the end was better than the previous. In fact, we had such a hard time deciding on a final we purchased all three designs and had one made for our Black Sheep Racing team as well. Our shop design is going onto be used to create our maker’s mark. Our racing logo is going to look great whether at the drag strip or the salt flats. So, allow us to share our new Black Sheep Studio logo and our Black Sheep Racing logo. As always thank you to everyone for your support. A big thanks to Chad for the deigns, words cant express how happy we are with them. Tina and Jerry
