That’s All, Brother is a Douglas C-47 Skytrain aircraft that led the formation of 800 others from which approximately 13,000 U.S. paratroopers jumped on D-Day, June 6, 1944, the beginning of the liberation of France in the last two years of World War II.
The Commemorative Air Force asked me to help in the restoration of their C-47 by researching and painting the exact nose art that this aircraft wore on June 6, 1944. I researched the original photos of both sides and discovered some authentic inconsistencies between the two sides, and replicated those on the aircraft. Through photo analysis, I was able to place the art in the authentic position and at the proper size. All art was hand-painted, just as it was in WWII.
